August 2022 Auto Recalls

Safety on the roads should be a top priority for everyone, and while driving safely is an important factor, the safety of your vehicle matters just as much. While today’s vehicles are equipped with top of the line safety features, vehicle recalls can happen every day. Make sure you stay up to date with auto recalls to ensure that your vehicle is ready to roll on the roads.

According to data provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the following recalls were issued in August. If you find your vehicle on this list, contact your dealership for further information about the steps to take relating to your specific recall defect.

2022-2023 BMW iX xDrive50, iX M60, 2022 i4 eDrive40, and i4 M50 vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 83

Defect: The high voltage battery may have internal damage, resulting in an electrical short-circuit.

2015-2021 Subaru WRX vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 59,934

Defect: The backup light switch may corrode and become inoperative, which can result in the backup lights not illuminating and the rearview camera image not displaying when the vehicle is in reverse.

2022 Volkswagen Golf R A8 and Golf GTI vehicles

Year:2022

Units Recalled: 965

Defect: Sunroof Malfunction. A sunroof switch that is inadvertently pressed can result in unintended auto-closure of the sunroof, increasing the risk of injury.

2021-2022 Jaguar F-PACE vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 5,297

Defect: Improperly illuminated rear turn signals can reduce vehicle visibility to other drivers and increase the risk of a crash.

2021-2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT43, E450 Cabriolet, E450 Wagon, E450 Coupe, 2019-2023 AMG E53, E53 Coupe, E53 Cabriolet, AMG GT53, CLS450, and 2019-2021 AMG CLS53 vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 27,330

Defect: The transmission wiring harness may be misrouted, which can expose the electrical connector to corrosion, and result in an electrical short-circuit.

2005-2022 various model Ferrari vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 23,555

Defect: The brake fluid reservoir cap may not vent properly, creating a vacuum inside the brake fluid reservoir, and resulting in a brake fluid leak that may lead to a partial or total loss of brake function.

2016 Volkswagen Audi TT Roadster, TT Coupe, S3 Sedan, R8 Coupe, A3 Sedan, A3 Etron, A3 Cabriolet, 2016 Golf Sportwagen, Golf R, Golf GTI, Golf A7, and E Golf vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 1,216

Defect: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking occupants, resulting in serious injury or death. An improper air bag deployment may not properly restrain the occupant, increasing their risk of injury in a crash.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 99,186

Defect: The tail light side marker assemblies may be damaged and not illuminate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamp, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

2017-2019 Nissan Rogue Hybrid vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 5,904

Defect: The hydraulic brake booster assembly may overheat internally, resulting in a loss of power brake assist. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, “Light Vehicle Brake Systems.”

2022 Audi SQ5 Sportback vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 100689

Defect: An improperly connected rear lid may decrease the structural protection of the vehicle during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

2022 Land Rover Range Rover Velar vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 52

Defect: The vehicles were manufactured without an Audio Amplifier Module (AAM), and therefore will not provide audio safety features, such as seat belt reminders, turn signal sounds, and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) warnings.

2022 Jaguar F-Pace vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 18

Defect: The vehicles were manufactured without an Audio Amplifier Module (AAM), and therefore will not provide audio safety features, such as seat belt reminders, turn signal sounds, and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) warnings.

2022 Ford Maverick vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 64,974

Defect: The side-curtain air bags may not deploy properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, “Ejection Mitigation.”

2018 BMW 540d xDrive vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 298

Defect: The EGR cooler may leak internally, causing coolant to mix with diesel engine soot, which could result in smoldering particles and a melting intake manifold.

2021-2022 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 484,155

Defect: The rivet that retains the buckle to the mounting bracket in the left or right side third-row seat belt buckle assembly may have been improperly formed and the deformed rivet may not properly restrain an occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

2016 Kia Sedona and Sorento vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 28,065

Defect: The vehicles may have been manufactured with faulty automatic transmission shift lever assembly components, preventing the shift lever from locking, which can allow the vehicle to rollaway.

2022 Chrysler Voyager and Pacifica vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 508

Defect: . The windshield wiper arm nuts may be improperly tightened, which can cause the wipers to not function properly.

2021-2022 Ford F-150 vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 58,203

Defect: Underbody heat and noise insulators may loosen and contact the aluminum driveshaft, which could damage the driveshaft and cause it to fracture.

2022 Ford Transit vehicles equipped with a rearview camera

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 46

Defect: These vehicles may have a missing audio control module (ACM), resulting in no rearview camera image while in reverse gear.

2020-2022 Lexus RC F vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 13

Defect: The tire information label does not list the vehicle’s weight capacity. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, “Tire Selection and Rims.”

2020-2021 Hyundai Palisade vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 122,919

Defect: The windshield wiper motor may become inoperative, causing the wipers to fail.

2017-2019 Subaru Impreza vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 188,397

Defect: The left and right side reflex reflector and left side low beam reflector may inadequately reflect light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

Infiniti 2002-2003 QX4, 2006-2010 M35 and M45; Nissan 2001-2003 Maxima, 2002-2006 Sentra, and 2007-2012 Versa Sedan and Versa Hatchback vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 375

Defect: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain air bag inflator replacement service parts that may have been installed as part of a theft or collision repair. The parts include certain passenger-side air bag inflators designed to fit Infiniti 2002-2003 QX4, 2006-2010 M35 and M45; Nissan 2001-2003 Maxima, 2002-2006 Sentra, and both driver and passenger-side inflators designed to fit 2007-2012 Versa Sedan and Versa Hatchback vehicles. These replacement inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

2020-2022 Kia Telluride vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 36,417

Defect: Certain 2020-2022 Telluride vehicles potentially equipped with a Genuine Kia 4-pin tow hitch harness installed as original equipment, or purchased as an accessory through a Kia dealership. Debris and moisture accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.

2020-2022 Hyundai Palisade vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 245,030

Defect: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling 2020-2022 Palisade vehicles potentially equipped with a tow hitch harness installed as original equipment, or purchased as an accessory through a Hyundai dealership. Debris and moisture accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.

2022 Hyundai Elantra N and 2022-2023 Elantra vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 247

Defect: The emblem on the cover of the driver’s front air bag may not have been welded properly, which can result in the emblem detaching upon deployment.

2022 Jeep Gladiator vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 11

Defect: The transmission parking wheel may not properly engage with the parking mechanism and may result in the loss of the ‘park’ position, including vehicle rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.

2013-2015 Chevrolet Spark and 2014-2015 Chevrolet Spark EV vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 120,688

Defect: The secondary hood latch may corrode at the latch pivot, preventing the hood latch from properly engaging.

2022 Rivian R1T and R1S vehicles

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 207

Defect: The front seat belt anchors may have been inadequately attached to the B-pillar.

2017-2020 Ford F-Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and 2017-2020 Lincoln Continental vehicles equipped with the 360-degree camera system

Year: 2022

Units Recalled: 277,040

Defect: Degradation of the camera’s anti-reflective lens coating can lead to a foggy or cloudy rearview camera image.
