Detroit’s “Queen of the Blues” Thornetta Davis is featured in our firm’s latest Super Bowl commercial singing “I Believe (Everything Gonna Be Alright)”
The rich, soulful voice of Detroit icon Thornetta Davis grabbed the attention of tens of thousands of television viewers during Super Bowl LI, along with various scenes of our great city and clients of the Mike Morse Law Firm. This was the fourth year our firm produced a Super Bowl ad, but this year we decided to go bigger.
After visiting the Dirty Dog Jazz Café and hearing Ms. Davis belt out her new song “I Believe (Everything Gonna Be Alright)” in person, we collaborated with her on the commercial, which showcases her incredible talent. The footage of Detroit’s funky rockin’ blues queen performing on stage was shot at Cliff Bells. Various Detroit streets and other recognizable locations can be seen throughout the one-minute spot, which aired just before halftime when Lady Gaga took the stage.
“It’s meant to be a canvas of the city and its citizens who are also the law firm’s clients,” explains Ross Lerner with Lerner Advertising. “In fact, the clients are not actors. All of them have had winning cases handled by the Mike Morse Law Firm. Thornetta is part of the fabric of the community, too. And what a pro!”
The commercial opens with crash scene footage of an actual accident. Various Mike Morse Law Firm clients and staff members are seen throughout the ad. We wanted to do something special – something different, gritty, and cutting edge to highlight the city we are so proud to serve. The feedback we’ve received has been amazing and we are thrilled our message is resonating with the community.
BLAC Magazine reported, “There was one shining moment during the Super Bowl. And it’s too bad a national audience isn’t witness, because they’re truly missing out… In the clip, Davis sings “I Believe (Everything Gonna Be Alright)” amidst a string of calamities, presumably to assure victims of car accidents and dog bites that if they retain Morse’s firm, everything gonna be alright. Can’t deny we’re digging this, and we support any effort to bring more attention to Davis’ talent.”
Special thanks to Thornetta Davis and the entire creative team at Lerner Advertising and the Mike Morse Law Firm.
