Judy Herman received her B.A. from Michigan State University in 1984 with Honors and her J.D. from Wayne State University in 1987 cum laude. Judy brings extensive, diverse experience to her practice daily. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants and managed the national commercial subrogation team at First Recovery Group/Equian. Judy has litigated matters throughout the State of Michigan. She is admitted to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. She serves as case evaluator, facilitator and arbitrator in Oakland and Macomb Counties. Judy was also a member of the Michigan Association for Justice, previously on the Board of Directors, and co-chair of the Liens and ERISA Committee.
In addition to practicing law, Judy also received a secondary teaching degree from Madonna University in 2006; she has taught English in public, private and alternative high schools in Oakland and Macomb Counties. She is a passionate advocate for the rights of public schools, teachers and students. Judy has volunteered in the West Bloomfield School District in many capacities ranging from PTO Officer/Board member to West Bloomfield Education Foundation Board member and participated in and co-chaired district-wide committees. She has also engaged in legislative advocacy on behalf of West Bloomfield and other Michigan public school districts.
Judy has served on committees for Tamarack Camps and the Executive Board of Orchard Valley Swim & Tennis Club. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Jewish Senior Life. Judy is a devoted wife and mother of two amazing young women, in a “house divided”, an avid reader, film buff, theatre-lover, traveller, bicyclist, and mahjong player who most enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially on Torch Lake.
